A head-on collision Thursday morning on FM 1954 claimed the lives of an Arrowhead Ranch Estates man and his 3-year-old daughter, and seriously injured another.
Thomas Eugene Chesser, 39, was traveling west on FM 1954 in a 1999 Chevrolet Cavalier when his car was struck by a 1998 Chevrolet Trailblazer. Chesser was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. Chesser’s daughter, Jenna, died after being transported to a Wichita Falls hospital by helicopter.
The driver of the Trailblazer, Ronald James Noack, 18, of Arrowhead Ranch Estates, was taken by ambulance to United Regional hospital in Wichita Falls. His condition is unknown. Noack was partially ejected from the vehicle.
Noack was eastbound on the farm-to-market road when his vehicle crossed into the westbound lane, striking Chesser’s vehicle. It appears that Chesser tried to veer away from the oncoming vehicle, said DPS Trooper Zach Ward.
The accident occurred at about 7:05 a.m. near the Clay-Archer county line, and blocked both lanes of traffic. TxDOT and sheriff’s deputies diverted traffic away from the scene at the intersections of FM 2393 in Arrowhead Ranch Estates, and at the intersection of Hwy. 281 in Archer County.
First responders from Arrowhead Ranch Estates, Lake Arrowhead, Bowman and Lakeside City were on scene, as well as the DPS, the Clay County Sheriff’s Office and TxDOT.
FM 1954 was reopened at about 10:15 a.m.
