Bellevue’s Bailey Terry has been named Most Valuable Player by the coaches of District 21-A. She is joined in the district’s top honorees by teammate Kimberley Morrow, Defensive Player of the Year.
Terry and Morrow, both seniors, played key roles in Bellevue’s undefeated district effort, and a playoff run that ended in the Region III semifinal Friday night. The Lady Eagles claimed a district championship and their first playoff win since 2003.
Bellevue Girls Coach Matthew Baird was named Coach of the Year.
Kyla Reeves of Saint Jo, a senior, earned Offensive Play of the Year, while Slidell freshman earned Newcomer of the Year.
Bellevue senior Bailey Schroeder is a first-team selection. Saint Jo sophomore Karla Fernandez and junior Brooklyn McPherson-Lyons, Forestburg junior Alex Sharon, and Prairie Valley seniors Stormy Duck and Joyce Fenoglio join Schroeder.
Bellevue junior Destiny Watkins earned a second team nod. Also earning second team honors are junior Cassidy Mass and senior Kelli Forester of Midway, senior Kimmie Downs of Gold-Burg, sophomore Robin Fenoglio of Prairie Valley, junior Claire Weger of Saint Jo, sophomore Caitlin Pruett and senior Ashton Stroope of Slidell.
Honorable mentions are Bellevue junior Emily Barnett, sophomore Amber Bush and junior Cassidy York; Midway junior Irene Budino and senior Breanna Merkel; Forestburg junior Michelle Britain, and sophomores Virginia Cody and Samantha Reynolds; Prairie Valley juniors Anne Bristow, Courtney Thomason and Alicia Perdergraft; Slidell sophomore Marisol Millan; and Saint Jo senior Amara Hawthorne.
