Lady Eagles advance to Reg. III tourney with win over Yantis


Bellevue’s Bailey and Bailey duo scored 24 of the Lady Eagles’ 39 points Tuesday night, leading their team to a three-point win and a trip to the Region III tournament.

The Lady Eagles took a 12-4 lead in the first quarter, en rout to the 39-36 quarterfinal win over Yantis. Bellevue’s opponent fired back in the second, topping the Lady Eagles 14-11, and stayed close to Bellevue in the third, 10-9. Yantis topped the Eagles 9-6 in the fourth, but it wouldn’t be enough.

Bailey Terry led the Lady Eagle offensive drive with 14 points, followed by Bailey Schroeder with 10. Amber Bush scored six. Emily Barnett and Destiny Watkins scored four points each. Kimberley Morrow added free throw.

Bellevue hit four of nine from the charity line.

The Lady Eagles open the Class A Div. II Region III tournament against Coolidge at 5 p.m. Friday. The Region III final will be played at 7:30 p.m. Saturday. The tournament is held at Tyler Junior College in Tyler.
