Alcohol is believed to have played a role in a Tuesday afternoon accident on FM 2847, south of Henrietta.

Casey Ray Skelton, 25, of Henrietta, was transported to Clay County Memorial Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The accident was reported at 1:30 p.m.

Skelton, driving a 2008 Chevrolet Aveo, was traveling west on FM 2847, approximately one-half mile west of Hwy. 148 South when he veered off the road. Skelton traveled about 75 yards in the median before overcorrecting into the eastbound lane, causing the vehicle to roll over, said DPS Trooper Ben Wolf. The vehicle came to a rest in a private drive.

When emergency personnel arrived on the scene, Skelton was located walking back from a nearby house, where he had sought help.

Skelton told Wolf that his father, Dale Ray Skelton, and his father’s girlfriend had also been in the vehicle, but had left the scene when offered a ride by a friend.

Skelton was not wearing a seatbelt, and air bags did not deploy.
