District champ Lady Eagles prepare for Area; Petrolia advances

Bellevue went undefeated in District 21-A Div. II, wrapping up the regular season with a 60-34 win over Forestburg Feb. 5 to earn the district championship and a bye in the bi-district round of the playoffs.

The Lady Eagles will face Fruitvale in the Area playoff Friday, Feb. 15 at Van Alstyne High School. Game time is set for 7 p.m.

Bellevue finished with a 25-5 regular season record.

Petrolia defeated Monday 43-38 in bi-district play Tuesday night, and will face Hico in the Area round. The game is set for 7:30 p.m. Friday at Springtown High School.

The bi-district win came on a hefty fourth quarter.

The Mogulettes led the Lady Pirates 22-18 at halftime — outscoring Petrolia 12-11 in the first and 10-7 in the second. Munday again topped Petrolia in the fourth, 9-7.

Petrolia came alive in the fourth quarter for 18 points.

Macey Hall led the Lady Pirates with 11 points, followed by Katie Cummings with 10, Kirsten Kenyon with nine and Abby Anderson with seven. Baylee Moore and Allie Ablia added three points each. Petrolia shot 13 of 20 from the free throw line.
