Donald E. Coker of Gainesville


Donald Eugene Coker, 85, of Gainesville, died Friday, Feb. 8, 2013.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 10 at the George J. Carroll and Son Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Larry Kremling officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery under the direction of George J. Carroll and Son Funeral Home.

Mr. Coker was born on March 31, 1927 in Devol, Okla., to John Wesley and Pearl Lillian (Martin) Coker. Donald served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He married Wanda Ellen Martin on Nov. 29, 1947 in Henrietta.

Survivors include wife Wanda Coker; two daughters Karen Sue Graham and husband James of Gainesville, and Glenda Jean Barnes of Lindsay; a son, Don Coker, Jr., of Gulf Breeze, Fla.; five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and one great great-grandchild.

He is preceded in death by four brothers; five sisters; a daughter, Donna Kay Coker; and two grandsons, Jason Tompkins and Cody Forson.
