TEEA disperses funds to Clay County fire departments

Volunteer Fire Departments in Clay County each received a donation of $567.50 from the Texas Extension Education Association during a county-wide fire fighters association meeting Tuesday night in Bluegrove.

Darlene Lyde represented the Clay County TEEA in dispersing the more than $7,000, raised through a drawing for a handmade, queen-size Cathedral Window coverlet.

TEEA member spent more than 3,000 hours constructing the quilt.

The drawing also included five Texas-themed gift baskets. More than 350 tickets were sold.

There are 12 volunteer fire departments in the county. They are Charlie-Thornberry, Byers, Petrolia, Dean Dale, Jolly, Arrowhead Ranch Estates, Lake Arrowhead, Henrietta, Bluegrove, Joy, Bellevue and Vashti.
