Eighth grade Bearcats earn eighth win of the season

Henrietta Junior High’s eighth grade “A” Bearcats earned wins seven and eight of season, stopping Bowie on Monday, Jan. 28, and defeating City View Jan. 24.

Henrietta vs. Bowie

The Bearcats managed one win at Bowie on Monday, Jan. 28 in the four games played. It was the eighth grade boys winning their eighth game of the season 52-27. However, the seventh grade “B” team fell 25-12, the eighth “B” lost 18-11 and the seventh “A” suffered a 42-7 loss.

Eighth Grade ‘A’

Blaine Long had a season high 21 points to pace the Bearcats in their victory. Kandon Bennett scored 10 points. Ben McCreary and Corbin Douthitt each tallied six points followed by Ethan Scholl with five points and Chris Offield with four. Dillon Flowers also scored. Long and Bennett hit buckets from beyond the three-point line. Long had three and Bennett had a pair of three pointers.

Seventh Grade ‘A’

Against a very strong Bowie team, Zack West led the scoring with five points and Brody Offield scored two. The Bearcats did hold Bowie scoreless in the fourth quarter.

Eighth Grade ‘B’

Trey Davis dropped in seven of the Bearcat 11 points getting several assists from the other Bearcats. Caleb Cody and Dusty Christian also scored buckets for the Bearcats.

Seventh Grade ‘B’

Brayden Headrick led the scoring with six points with Gage Stewart, Ryan Greene and Joseph Ford each chipping in two points. After trailing 18-4 at halftime, the Bearcats outscored Bowie 8-7 in the final half.

Henrietta vs. City View

The Bearcats swept City View on January 24. It was the 7th grade taking a 24-9 victory while the 8th grade defeated the Mustangs 45-12. Records for the two teams are 3-7 for the seventh grade and 8-2 for the eighth grade.

Eighth Grade

Ethan Scholl had a season high 12 points and Corbin Douthitt also scored in double digits with 11 points. Ben McCreary scored six points. Dillon Flowers, Mason Hanson and Blaine Long each had four points followed by Kandon Bennett and Trey Davis with two points.

Seventh Grade

Zack West led all scorers with eight points followed by Brody Offield and Patrick Holcomb with four points each. Seth Sanderson, Jayson Nixon, Noah Mabry and Ross Cantwell each contributed two points for the Bearcats.
