Coming away with 32 rebounds and shooting 80 percent from the free throw line, Henrietta dominated City View in District 8-2A playTuesday night, 75-53.
The Bearcats, led in their offensive effort by Nick Powell, scored 24 points in the first quarter alone, while holding the Mustangs to 10. By halftime, Henrietta led 46-16. City View fared better in the second half, especially in the fourth when Henrietta pulled its starters. The Bearcats topped City View 20-16 in the third. The Mustangs posted 20 in the fourth, to Henrietta’s nine.
Powell scored 20 points in the matchup, followed by Cole Burns with 18. Ben Fletcher added 13 points and Dalton Davidson scored 12. Myles Marchman and Tyler Coleman scored four each, followed by Kaleb Gwinn and Conner Fletcher with two points each. Philip Davis had eight assists.
Burns and Ben Fletcher led the defense with eight rebounds apiece. Burns also had five steals on the night, followed by Davidson with four.
With the win, Henrietta remains in second place behind Holliday in district play with a 5-1 record. The Bearcats will get a rematch against the Eagles on Friday, Feb. 8 in Holliday. On Friday, Feb. 1, The Bearcats host Bowie. Game time is set for 8 p.m.
