Breanna Merkel named Midway Homecoming Queen

The Midway student body name Breanna Merkel as homecoming queen during ceremonies held Friday night in the John Guice Gymnasium.

Breanna was escorted by Brent Jones and Josh Fulbright. Homecoming queen candidates were Kelli Forester, escorted by Ben Forester; Racheal Keener, escorted by Mark Nall; and Mcy McDaniel, escorted by Brody Wilson.

Midway Kindergarten students Allison Marshall and Faith Vogel served as flower girls. Randall Capps was crown bearer.

Prior to the crowning of the homecoming queen, special recognition went out to the graduating classes of 1963, 1983 and 2003.

Members of the Class of 1963 are Kent Akin, David Campbell, Cheryl Carr, Dalton Clark, A.E. Cozart, Ray Hager, Barbara Liggett, Donald Light, Larry Plemons, Loyd Rhoades, Michael Sanderson and Harry Webb. A candle was lit in memory of classmate Roy Gray.

Members of the Class of 1983 are Rhonda Bagwill, David Blagg, LaVoyce Capps, Jimmy Crowley, Craig Fenter, Christi Gilmore, Jussi Hayrynen, Lanny Jackson, Stormi Magee, Zach Morton, James Nunley, Sharlena Powell, Leisa Scott, Gidget Scruggs, Pat Seymore, Randy Simpson, Steve Simpson and Sue Williams. Debbie Baugh and Johnny Davis were memorialized with the lighting of a candle.

Class of 2003 members are Nate Fields, Cassie Gutierrez, Mark Johnson, Caroline Jones, Elizabeth Pettit, Maria Vasquez, Michael Veal and Brett Wilson. A candle was lit in memory of Matt Brashear.

The classes of 1964-1982 and 1942-1962 were recognized during halftime of the varsity girls and boys games.
