Bearcats improve to 19-3; Ladies fall to Nocona



Henrietta defeated Nocona 55-46 in District 8-2A action Firday night, improving to 19-3 for the season.

Nick Powell led the Bearcats with 14 points, followed by Ben Fletcher with 12, Dalton Davidson with 10 and Matthew Reed with nine, including a pair of three-pointers. Chad Burns, Conner Fletcher, Phillip Davison and Kaleb Gwinn added two points each.

Henrietta took a 13-10 lead in the first period, and outscored Nocona 12-8 in the second and 19-10 in the third. Nocona scored 18 to Henrietta’s 11 in the fourth.

Henrietta is 3-0 in District 8-2A.

The JV Bearcats defeated Nocona 56-26.

Lady Cats

Henrietta’s Lady Cats lit up the scoreboard in the first quarter of Friday’s matchup with Nocona, but couldn’t continue the momentum, taking a 58-41 loss.

The Lady Cats scored 21 points in the first quarter, added only nine in the second period. Henrietta held a 30-27 lead at halftime, but allowed 20 points from the Lady Indians in the third quarter while scoring eight. Nocona won the fourth 11-3.

Anni Scholl led the Lady Cats with a 16-point game. Scholl finished with nine rebounds, two assists and five steals. Kamryn Weaver followed with nine points, while Cheyenne Barry and Katie Jo Blanscet added six points each. Weaver and Blanscet took eight rebounds each. Addison Wade and Cassie Pickett had five rebounds each.

The Lady Cats shot 50 percent from the free throw line, hitting 13 of 26 attempts.
