Fredrick Deen Childs of Calgary, Canada


Frederick Deen Childs, 87, of Calgary, Alberta, Canada, died Jan. 5, 2013 at his home.

Graveside services will be held at the Bluegrove Cemetery around Easter. Arrangements will be set at a later date.

Mr. Childs was born Dec. 1, 1925 in Bluegrove to Leo Louis and Lucy (Deens) Childs. He attended Bluegrove High School, graduating early to serve in World War II an during the occupation of Europe. During the occuaption, he was stationed in Belgium. He graduated from Midwestern State University in 1953 with a degree in geology. He worked for Hughes Tool Company before taking an oil field job in British Columbia, Canada. He married Colleen Clifford on June 29, 1957 in Shelby, Mont.

Survivors include wife Colleen Childs of Calgary; two sons, Edward James Childs of Calgary, and Lewis Dean Childs of Kelowna, British Columbia; a daughter, Linda S Childs Davis of Alaska; three sisters, Naomi Ross Weaver of Fort Worth, Rubylee McDonald of Wichita Falls, and Lottie Dale Burns of Eliasville; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
