The Bearcat eighth grade won its third straight game Monday night, improving its record to 6-2 with a 58-21 win over Jacksboro at home. In other games, the seventh grade “B” team dropped a close 16-10 decision and despite a valiant fourth-quarter performance by the seventh grade “A” team, they fell 26-21.

Corbin Douthitt had his best night of the season on both ends of the floor scoring 13 points along with several rebounds. However, it was a total team effort as the Bearcat scored the first bucket of the game and never looked back in route to the 58-21 victory.

All nine players on the roster shared time and contributed. Ethan Scholl and Kandon Bennett also pulled off double-digit performances with 10 points each. Blaine Long was close behind with nine points, Mason Hanson scored six points, Dillon Flowers and Chris Offield played well scoring four points each and Ben McCreary added two points, but had several rebounds and steals.

The Bearcats led 18-2 after one quarter and 31-9 at the halfway mark. Both teams matched points in the third quarter, but the Bearcats outscored the Tigers 17-1 in the final six minutes.

Zack West led the scoring with seven points including a three-point bucket. Patrick Holcomb had his best game of the night scoring six points, Brody Offield and Trey Essler each chipped in three points and Jayson Nixon added a bucket off a steal in the fourth quarter. The Bearcats trailed 19-7 heading into the fourth quarter, but outstanding efforts by the entire squad made a great comeback that fell short. Henrietta outscored Jacksboro 14-7 in the final six minutes of the game.

Seventh Grade B

Gage Stewart and Garrett Duncan each scored four points with JC Smith contributing another field goal, but the Bearcats fell short. Henrietta led 6-4 over the Tigers at half. The Bearcats have show a lot of improvment since their first outing of the year. Several of the Bearcats had a good game either on the offensive or defensive end of the floor.
