2013 welcome with open arms

By Ashley Crownover

Happy New Year! 2012 is behind us, and we welcome 2013 with open arms.

Henrietta Care Center lost a very precious lady and member of our family. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family of Velma Woods. We will dearly miss her. We are very grateful to have had the opportunity to be a part of Velma’s life.

We had a fantastic year at Henrietta Care Center. This past year was very enjoyable and memorable due to being part of such a supportive, generous, and extraordinary community. We are very grateful for everything that each of you does for us. To everyone who chose to volunteer at HCC by entertaining, singing, holding church services, having devotional time with the residents, conducting Sunday school classes, doing nails, playing Mr. and Mrs. Claus, donating corsages, donating money, buying from our bake sale, etc., we thank you from the bottom of our hearts. You have truly blessed us and touched so many lives.

We are very fortunate to have a great amount of church involvement in our facility as well as a community full of people who devote time to our residents. This Christmas was wonderful for all of our residents.

Our employees worked all year to save money for our resident Christmas fund. With this money, we were able to provide each resident a Christmas sack full of personal items such as shampoo, lotion, deodorant, toothpaste, a toothbrush, body spray, socks, body wash, powder, and combs. What an awesome group of employees! We are so proud of the appreciation and love that our staff has for our residents. Being a part of the Henrietta Care Center family is a great joy!

We are looking forward to many fun activities this year. With your help, we believe the residents will have an enjoyable and exciting year. Please share your talents with us. Our residents really love any kind of music from singing to piano to guitar. We also have a few residents that like to exercise by playing kickball or any other fun games. If you are energetic, and want to host an exercise class for the residents, please call or stop by and let Vicki know. We would love to have you.

Do not forget to come out to HCC Jan. 11 for our potluck meal. We have a potluck meal the second Friday of each month. Our theme this month is a winter wonderland. We will serve chicken and dumplings, mixed vegetables, and winter snowflake cake. We offer this free meal to family, friends, and the community for being so supportive of Henrietta Care Center. We provide the meal, drinks, and deserts at no cost to you. All you have to do is show up and eat. It doesn’t get much better than that!

We have a Country Store two times each month for the residents to shop in using their bingo bucks. If you have any items you do not need or want that you think may be nice for the store, just drop them off to us at the home. We appreciate your help.

Our January birthdays are Yolanda Farin on the 1st, Ruthie M. Jones on the 5th, Lowell Lynn on the 12th, Sam Bachman on the 16th, and Leatrice Bouldin on the 26th. We will have a birthday party to celebrate each of these birthdays on the 25th! Go ahead and mark your calendars now. We would love to see you.

Have a great week!
