Lady Cats suffer in first quarter, fall to Holliday


After struggling through the first half, Henrietta’s varsity Lady Cats came alive in the third quarter in Holliday Friday night, but could not recuperate their losses.

The Lady Cats opened District 8-2A with a 48-35 loss to the Lady Eagles.

Henrietta fell behind early, outscored by the opponent 10-1 in the first quarter. The Lady Cats fared better in the second, scoring seven, but their deficit grew for an 18-8 halftime score.The third quarter was a different story, as Henrietta matched Holliday basket-for-basket, 15-all. The Lady Eagles again outscored Henrietta in the fourth quarter, 15-12.

Taylor Burch, Anni Scholl and Katie Jo Blancet scored eight points each to lead the Lady Cat effort. Kamryn Weaver scored six points, while Annelise Sauer added three and Sierra Burkhart scored two. As a team, The Lady Cats made 12 of 19 free throw attempts.

Scholl led the team in rebounds with 11, while Blanscet, Weaver and Cheyenne Barry had five boards each. Sauer had three steals, while Barry took away two.

Tuesday, the Lady Cats host Jacksboro. Junior varsity starts at 5 p.m.
