William ‘Carl’ Blanton of Wichita Falls


William Carnelia (Carl) Blanton, 72, of Wichita Falls, died Jan. 1, 2013 in Wichita Falls.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 4 at Red River Cowboy Church in Burkburnett with Bro. Kerry Finley officiating. Burial will be in the Byers Cemetery under the direction of Dudley Funeral Home of Waurika.

Mr. Blanton was born in Honey Grove on March 11, 1940 to James and Alice (Ravan) Blanton. He and Virginia Ruth Mills were married April 6, 1963 in Wichita Falls. He served in the U.S. Army from 1957-60. He lived in Texas all his life except while serving in the military. He was a retired truck driver and mechanic. He was a Baptist.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Virginia; one grandson, Jeremy; two brothers, James and Joel; and three sisters, Wanda, Pauline, and Dorothy.

Survivors onclude two sons, James Blanton and Randy Blanton of Burkburnett; two daughters, Elizabeth Manshack of Burkburnett, and Beverly Miracle and husband Chance of Burkburnett; a sister, Inez Peeler of Port La Vaca; 10 granddaughters and 13 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at Owens and Brumley Funeral Home in Burkburnett.
