A Petrolia man is accused of Christmas Eve thefts after he was discovered with items stolen from two homes in the Dean area early Monday morning.
At about 5:30 a.m., Clay County Deputy Jason McGuire responded to a burglary call in the 1000 block of Pitts Road in Dean, where he spotted Nickolas Tyler Coleman of Petrolia walking a block away. Coleman, 18, was dressed in dark clothing and carried a backpack.
With Coleman’s permission, McGuire searched the backpack and found items, which belonged in the home. Coleman was taken into custody.
Approximately two hours later, a second burglary report was made.
Coleman has been charged with two counts of burglary of a habitation. Bond was set at $100,000 for the first charge, and has not been set for the second charge.
