Lady Cats earn narrow win over Petrolia

Henrietta earned a narrow 40-34 win over Petrolia in varsity girls action at home Tuesday night.

The Lady Cats led from the start with a 7-6 first quarter, and a 9-8 second. Henrietta pulled away in the third, outscoring the Lady Pirates 12-9 in the third. Petrolia tried to comeback in the fourth, but fell short as Henrietta won the period 12-11.

Annelise Sauer led the Lady Cats with a 13-point game. Sauer also had four rebounds. Katie Jo Blanscet led the defensive effort with seven rebounds, and scored eight points.

Danica Bustos led the Lady Pirates with 11 points, followed by Wesley with six. Madison Oliver, Katie Cummings, Allie Ablia and Macey Hall scored four points each. Kirsten Kenyon added a free throw. Petrolia shot 12 of 19 from the charity line.

The Lady Cats travel to Lindsay Friday, and will compete in the Windthorst Tournament Dec. 27-29. Petrolia hosts Iowa Park on Friday, and will travel to Chico Dec. 28.
