Ricky Staley of Vashti


Ricky Dale Staley, 54, of Vashti, passed away Thursday, Dec. 13, 2012 in his home after a decade-long battle with renal cell carcinoma.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 17 at Vashti Baptist Church with Pastor Wayne James officiating. Burial will follow at Vashti Cemetery under the direction of Davis Funeral Home of Henrietta.

Mr. Staley was born Dec. 10, 1958 in Bowie to Dewey Edward and Betty Jo (Horn) Staley. He graduated from Bellevue High School in 1977. He and Carla Moreau were married May 7, 1983. Mr. Staley had a 25-year career in road maintenance for Clay County Precinct 4. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. In November 1993, he was honored at the Texas Big Game Awards and featured in Texas Trophy Hunters Magazine for a 12-point whitetail buck that scored 186.

He is preceded in death by a sister, Kita (Staley) McGhee of Burleson.

Survivors include his wife, Carla Moreau Staley of Vashti; his parents, Dewey and Betty Jo Staley of Vashti; one daughter, Sasha Kelton and husband Matt of Henrietta; one son, Ethan Staley of Vashti; and two grandchildren.

The family will be at Davis Funeral Home Sunday, Dec. 16 from 6-7:30 p.m.
