Lady Cats earn consolation at Lindsay tournament


Henrietta won consolation in the girls’ bracket of the Lindsay tournament on Saturday, and in the process improved its record to 4-7.

The Lady Cats beat Denton Calvary, 46-17, for the title.

All-tournament selection Anni Scholl had a big game with 12 points, nine rebounds, 10 steals and five assists. Kamryn Weaver followed with 11 points, seven rebounds and five assists, and Taylor Burch scored nine points.

Henrietta opened with a 15-1 run in the first quarter, and outscored Calvary again in the second, 16-11. The Lady Cats held their opponent scoreless in the third quarter, and allowed five points in the fourth while posting 13.

Henrietta advanced to the consolation game with a Friday win over Coram Deo, 58-15. The Lady Cats outscored Coram Deo 16-9 in the first, 16-2 in the second, 13-0 in the third and 13-4 in the fourth quarter.

Scholl led the Lady Cats with 12 points, six steals and four assists. Cassie Pickett scored 12 points and had four assists. Weaver finished with 10 points and six rebounds, while Andi Stewart also scored 10 points.

Henrietta opened the tournament with a 62-30 loss to Decatur.

The Lady Cats fell behind 19-3 in the first quarter. Decatur continued to outscore Henrietta through the remaining three quarters 17-9, 15-10, 11-8.

Pickett led the team with seven points, followed by Katie Jo Blanscet with six points, Weaver with five and J.J. Ramos with four points.

Tuesday, the Lady Cats play host to Bellevue. JV girls begin at 4 p.m.
