Louise Noll of Denton


Mattie Louise (Davis) Noll, 93, of Denton, passed away Friday, Nov. 16, in Denton.

Graveside service were held at 3 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 17 in Lynn Creek Cemetery, Jack County, under the direction of Davis Funeral Home of Henrietta. Rev. Caroline Noll, Associate Pastor of First United Methodist Church in Garland, TX, grand daughter-in-law of Mrs. Noll, officiated.

Mrs. Noll was born May 15, 1919 in Arden, Ark., to William Pinkney and Katie Lee (Rushing) Davis. She grew up in the oil fields of Burkburnett, Electra and Sunshine Hill, Texas. She graduated as an honor student from Electra High School in 1936 and St. Paul’s School of Nursing in Dallas as a registered nurse in 1939. She married Donald C. Noll on April 19, 1942 in Lawton, Okla.

She nursed in hospitals in Wichita Falls, and at Clay County Memorial Hospital when they moved to the Deer Creek Community in 1948. She became Dr. Pickett’s office nurse when they moved into Henrietta in 1953 and then was made supervisor and director of nurses at CCMH. She was also a volunteer for Red Cross blood drives in Henrietta.

In 1965, Donald and Louise moved Burkburnett. Louise worked for Dr. Berg as his office nurse in Wichita Falls, then retired from nursing, and they move to the Devol Community in Cotton Co., Okla., to live in the country where Donald farmed and ranched and Louise took oil painting lessons and had a huge vegetable garden.

Approximately 1975 The Nolls moved back to Henrietta and for a period of time. Louise did in-service training for nurses’ aides and Donald farmed in the Stanfield Community. They were members of the First United Methodist Church where Donald taught the Escalator Class and Louise served on the Memorial Committee. She spent many happy hours playing bridge.

Donald and Louise celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary on April 19, 1992.

In 1995 after a fall resulting Louise’s broken hip The Nolls moved to Temple. Louise moved to Denton, TX in 2010.

She is proceeded in death by her husband of 54 years Donald Noll; two sisters, Hilda Davis Trevino and Juanita Davis Anderson; two brothers, Dale Davis, and, as an infant, John Davis; and Son-in-law Terry L. Cost.

She is survived by her children, Donna Noll Cost of Sanger, and David Noll and wife Beverly (Strealy) Noll of Arlington; six and seven great-grandchildren.
