With four touchdowns from Will Morath, Petrolia closed the 2012 football season on a high note Friday night, claiming its first win in District 8-A with a 28-15 final over Perrin-Whitt.
Petrolia got on the board first when Morath broke loose for a 39-yard touchdown run in the first quarter. Adam Sandoval connected on the point-after kick for a 7-0 lead.
Morath struck twice more in the second quarter, on runs of 4 yards and 19 yards. Both point after attempts failed, 19-0.
Perrin-Whitt posted seven points in the second on a 27-yard pass paly from Josiah Cansler to Forest Francis.
Petrolia’s Adam Sandoval answered — and made up for a missed point-after — with a 42-yard field goal, giving the Pirates a 22-point lead at halftime.
Morath scored once more on a 78-yard run in the fourth quarter. A 45-yard pass followed the Petrolia strike from Cansler to Cooper Young for a Perrin-Whitt touchdown. Perrin added a two-point conversion.
Petrolia finished with 465 yards on 53 carries, including Morath’s 31 carries for 310 yards. The Pirates competed one of four pass attempts for 17-yards, when Dustin Hanusch connected with Eric Luna.
Perrin-Whitt had 96 yards on 24 carries, and completed 10 of 23 pass attempts for 166 yards. Perrin-Whitt tossed one interception.
Petrolia finishes the season with a 3-7 record, and 1-4 in district.
