Muenster stings Petrolia 56-0; Pirates fall to 2-7

Muenster’s Hornets stung Petrolia Friday night with a 56-0 win over the Pirates, thanks to 352 yards rushing.

With the loss, Petrolia falls to 2-7 for the season and 0-4 in District 8-A Div. II with one game remaining.

Muenster scored on runs of 8 yards and 1 yard in the first quarter for a 15-0 lead. The Hornets added three touchdowns in the second quarter, on runs of 2, 14 and 38 yards, for a 35-0 lead at the half.

Muenster added two scores in the third, on a 5-yard run and a 65-yard interception, and one touchdown in the fourth on a 2-yard run.

Muenster’s Trevor Hess averaged 11.7 yards on 10 carries. The Hornets completed three passes for 56 yards and carried the ball 41 times.

Will Morath led the Pirate offense with 14 carries for 55 yards, while Dustin Hanusch completed four of 16 pass attempts, including three to Chase Hall for 58 yards. Petrolia tossed two interceptions. The Pirates carried the ball 26 times for 69 yards.

Petrolia wraps up its season next week, hosting Perrin-Whitt.
