Henrietta managed little success on offense Friday night, falling to perennial underdog City View, 7-0. With the loss, the Bearcats will sit out the playoffs for the first time in almost a decade.

Until Friday night, Henrietta had the longest streak of consecutive playoff appearances in the area, nine in a row.

Due in part to three turnovers, the Bearcats managed a slim 220 yards total offense, but still outpaced the Mustangs with 159 yards. Henrietta had 13 first downs to City View’s seven.

City View quarterback Kent Wingfield connected with Dalton Jackson for a 22-yard touchdown pass in the first quarter.

The Bearcats finished with 170 yards rushing on 46 carries, the bulk of which came at the hands of Ethan Cantrell, who took the ball 22 times for 84 yards. The Bearcats completed three of 12 pass attempts for 50 yards, but tossed two interceptions.

City View connected on two of five pass attempts for 26 yards and had threw one interception.

Henrietta is 2-6 on the season and 0-3 in District 5-2A.
