Bearcat, Lady Cats compete in district cross country meet

Henrietta’s high school and junior high cross country teams competed in the District 8-2A meet at Kiwanis Park in Wichita Falls on Monday, Oct. 22.

The Bearcats placed fourth as a team in the varsity boys’ 5,000 meter race with 100 points. Holliday won the district championship with a 33-point finish, followed by Nocona in second with 48 and Jacksboro in third with 65 points. Bowie finished fifth with 115 points.

Donavon Cook led the Bearcats, placing 14th with a time of 21 minutes, 14 seconds. Cole Burns placed 17th with 21:26, followed by Dalton Davidson in 20th with 21:37, Matthew Reed in 22nd with 22:32, Kaleb Gwin in 33rd with 25:15, Chris Davis in 34th with 26:09, and Levi Hedrick in 35th with a time of 29:31.

Nocona’s Derek Filkins won the individual district title with a time of 18:38. Other top 10 finishers are as follows:

ninth, Andrew Mangum, City View, 20:29;
10th, Jack Lamberson, Jacksboro, 20:36.

Henrietta finished fifth in the varsity girls 3,200 meter run with 118 points. Holliday also won the girls team title with 23 points, followed by Nocona in second with 56, Jacksboro in third with 60 and Bowie in fourth with 95 points.

Joyana Zamzow led the Lady Cats with a 16th place finish and a time of 14:51. Mahalah Womack finished 22nd with 15:25, Casey Gill finished 26th with 15:52, Sarah Matthews finished 28th with 16:01, Justine Loyd finsihed 30th with 16:24, and Brooke Hoff took 31st place with a time of 16:29.

The top 10 individuals in each varsity race advance to Class 2A Region I, Saturday, Nov. 3 at Mae Simmons Park in Lubbock.

Henrietta’s junior high boys placed fourth in the team standings.

Cody Patterson finished fourth in the individual standings with a time of 13:03, followed by Seth Sanderson in 17th with 14:38, Triston Rogers in 24th with 15:57, Hunter Smith in 25th with 15:59, and Marshall Roberts in 32nd with a time of 20:34.

The junior high Lady Cats also finished fourth as a team, led by Kelton Matthews in 18th with a time of 16:26. TeeLee Cook finished 20th with 16:43, followed by Madeline Koetter in 24th with 17:05, Marissa Rodriguez in 28th with 17:39, Jaden Kane in 32nd with 18:32, and Kelsey Voils in 38th with a time of 20:54.
