Harley K. Maness of Petrolia


Harley K. Maness, 82, of Petrolia, passed away on Monday, Oct. 15, 2012 in Petrolia.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 17 at Faith Freewill Baptist Church of Wichita Falls, with Rev. Richard Rust, pastor, officiating, and Rev. James Keenum assisting. Burial will be in the Petrolia Cemetery under the direction of Davis Funeral Home of Henrietta.

Mr. Maness was born on April 25, 1930 in Shamrock to Finis Kin and Lela Marquitte (Twilligear) Maness. He married Virginia Lee Jackson on Aug. 30, 1947 in Henrietta. He was retired from Merchants Fast Motor Freight where he worked for 38 years as a truck driver.

Mr. Maness is preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Virginia; one son, Harley K. Maness, Jr.; one great-granddaughter Michaela Hoff; one daughter-in-law JoAnn Maness; one son-in-law Billy Hefner; two sisters, Opal Odom and Ruby Brandon; five brothers, Finis Maness, Francis Maness, James Grundy, Elsworth Grundy and Wesley Maness.

Survivors include four daughters, Connie Lee Maness of Petrolia, Cynthia “Cindy” Ann Richards and husband Floyd Allen of Charlie, Virginia Elaine Rosenberger and husband Tom Sr. of Petrolia, and Darlene Hefner of Hico; two sons, Gary Lynn Maness of Petrolia, and Joel Steven Maness, Sr., of Charlotte, N.C.; adopted daughter, Opal Woolsey of Hico; 12 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

The family will be at Davis Funeral Home on Tuesday, Oct. 16, from 7-9 p.m.
