David Charles Simons of Dean


David Charles Simons, 63, passed away on Oct. 14, 2012, in Dean.

The funeral liturgy will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 18 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Rev. Jack McKone, celebrant. Rite of Committal will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery under the direction of Owens and Brumley Funeral Home of Wichita Falls.

Mr. Simons was born on July 16, 1949 to Henry and Gertie (Martini) Simons. On July 27, 1979, David married Theresa Schreiber in Windthorst. They built a house in Dean, and lived there with their children most of their married lives. He was a charter member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 10998, where he remained an active member, holding multiple offices, including Grand Knight and a member of the Fourth Degree. He was a member of multiple community and church organizations in Wichita Falls and Clay County. He enjoyed spending time with friends and family, along with playing golf, hunting, fishing, water skiing and coaching and supporting his children’s activities.

He is survived by wife Theresa; a daughter, Tracy (Simons) Gibson and husband David of Grand Prairie; a son, Dennis Simons and his wife Rhawnie (Roanhous) of Wichita Falls; two sisters, Myra (Simons) Preissler and husband Don, and Shirley (Simons) May and her husband Bob, both of Omaha, Neb.; and three grandchildren.

The family will be at Owens and Brumley Funeral Home at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 17, with a rosary and wake starting at 7 p.m.

Memorials can be made to the family to be distributed to the Presbyterian Manor Good Samaritan Fund and the Knights of Columbus Scholarship Fund.
