Bennett leads Lady Cats in City View sweep


Taylor Bennett reaches to keep a volley alive during Henrietta’s win over Bowie on Saturday, Oct. 6. Tuesday night, Bennett led the Lady Cats in a three-set win over City View.

Taylor Bennett led the way for a Lady Cat sweep of City View Tuesday night to open the second round of District 8-2A volleyball.

Henrietta defeated its opponent 25-14, 25-18, 25-15, improving to 3-3 in district.

Bennett scored seven kills and five aces in the win. Joyana Zamzow and Addison Wade added six kills each, while Anni Scholl and Sierra Burkhart had four kills each. Cheyenne Barry scored two kills. Katie Halsell scored three aces and Cassie Pickett added two aces.

Halsell tallied 17 set assists.

Annelise Sauer picked up 15 digs, followed by Scholl with nine, Pickett with seven, and Bennett with five.

Saturday, Henrietta hosts Jacksboro with JV games scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. Following Saturday’s matches, Henrietta High School will retire the No. 17 jersey worn by Jessica Rogers.

On Friday, Oct. 19, Henrietta hosts Nocona, beginning at 4 p.m. The game was originally set for 10 a.m. Saturday. Senior volleyball players will be honored prior to the varsity warm-up.

During the month of October, the Lady Cats will be collecting coins to benefit The Side-Out Foundation Dig Pink breast cancer foundation. The Lady Cats will also hold fundraiser bake sales During the Oct. 13 and Oct. 19 matches.
