Leland V. Pollard, 85, of Petrolia, passed away on Monday, Oct. 8, 2012, in Henrietta.
Graveside service will be at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 10, in the Riverside Cemetery in Byers, with Mr. Tom Caldwell officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Davis Funeral Home of Henrietta.
Mr. Pollard was born on Nov. 24, 1926, in Roswell, N.M., to Leland Graham and Thelma (Camp) Pollard. He grew up on the family farm in Clay County, and married Wilma Gene Kennedy on July 31, 1944. Their son Tracy Sterling was born on June 27, 1945 and their daughter Nancy Louise Pollard Dickerson was born on May 24, 1948. He was a welder by trade and worked at Wilson Manufacturing until it closed in the 1980’s. He lived in Clay county most of his life and enjoyed his black powder rifles and spending time at the river. He and his wife Wilma Gene lived in Petrolia until December 2010, when they moved to Henrietta Care Center.
He is preceded in death by a son-in-law, Lewis Dickerson; and one granddaughter, Susan Meridan Dickerson.
Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Wilma Gene Pollard; a son Tracy Sterling Pollard and wife Marion of Gentry, Ark.; a daughter, Nancy Dickerson of Wichita Falls; seven grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
