Lady Cats sweep Bowie to close round one of 8-2A

Henrietta’s varsity Lady Cats earned a win over 8-2A rival Bowie Saturday in three games, 25-16, 25-17, 25-20.

Anni Scholl led the Lady Cat offense with 11 kills and three aces, and finished with 11 digs on defense.

Overall, Henrietta was strong at the service line with a total of 17 aces. Taylor Bennett scored seven aces, followed by Scholl and Kailey Kirk with three each. Joyana Zamzow and Cassie Pickett had two aces each.

Zamzow scored seven kills, followed by Sierra Burkhart and Addison Wade with five kills each. Bennett finished with three kills. Setter Katie Halsell had 18 assists, while Kirk had 10 set assists.

Annelise Sauer, playing libero, led the defense with 16 digs. Pickett had nine digs.

Tuesday, the Lady Cats travel to City View to begin the second half of district play. JV play begins at 4:30 p.m.

Saturday, Henrietta hosts Jacksboro with JV games scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. Following Saturday’s matches, Henrietta High School will retire the No. 17 jersey worn by Jessica Rogers.

On Friday, Oct. 19, Henrietta hosts Nocona, beginning at 4 p.m. The game was originally set for 10 a.m. Saturday. Senior volleyball players will be honored prior to the varsity warm-up.

During the month of October, the Lady Cats will be collecting coins to benefit The Side-Out Foundation Dig Pink breast cancer foundation. The Lady Cats will also hold fundraiser bake sales During the Oct. 13 and Oct. 19 matches.
