Three Clay County residents were uninjured in a Monday morning accident in downtown Henrietta.
The wreck occurred at 9:48 a.m. Monday morning at the intersection of East Omega and South Bridge streets in Henrietta. According to an accident report provided Tuesday morning by the Clay County Sheriff’s Office, the wreck was caused when a 2003 Chevrolet pickup driven by C.M. Erwin, 84, of Byers, ran a red light.
Joe Bob Simons of Henrietta was traveling south on South Bridge in a 2008 Chrysler Aspen SUV. Simons attempted to turn left onto East Omega when his vehicle was struck in the front driver’s side by Erwin’s pickup.
Erwin had one passenger, wife Virgie Erwin. The impact pushed the grill guard on Erwin’s pickup into the hood and front fenders. The pickup was drivable. Simons’ vehicle was towed.
