Fred Schaffner of Byers


Fred E. Schaffner, 79, of Byers, passed away on Monday, Oct. 1, 2012 in Wichita Falls.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 4 at the First Baptist Church of Henrietta with Rev. Randy Osborn, pastor, officiating, and Rev. Tommy Bragg of the Lakeside Baptist Church, assisting. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery in Henrietta, under the direction of Davis Funeral Home.

Mr. Schaffner was born on July 9, 1933 in Byers to Rudolf and Rosie (Goettman) Schaffner. He married Wanda Garrett on Dec. 1, 1956 in Wichita Falls. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a farmer and rancher and worked 20 years for Wichita Tool Supply as a machinist. Mr. Schaffner was a member of the First Baptist Church of Henrietta.

He is preceded in death by one sister, Dorothy Morris.

Survivors include his wife, Wanda Schaffner of Byers; one son, Lanny Schaffner and daughter-in-law Ginger of Henrietta; one daughter, Sandra Brezina and son-in-law Jerry of Wichita Falls; one brother, George Schaffner of Dean; one sister, Anna Fuhrman of Fort Worth; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Davis Funeral Home on Wednesday from 6-8 p.m.
