Eight schools compete in Henrietta cross country invitational

Runners from eight schools participated in the Henrietta Cross Country Invitational, held at Hapgood Park on Saturday, Sept. 22.

In varsity boys competition, three Clay County schools rounded out the top four. Boyd took first place with 37 points, followed by locals Petrolia in second with 63, Bellevue in third with 65 and Midway in fourth place with 107 points.

Boyd placed runners in first, second and fourth in the individual standings.

Henrietta’s Caleb Johnson, in his first cross country meet as a Bearcat, took third place, followed in fifth by Tyler Matthews of Petrolia. Logan Harper of Midway, Brandt Cassetty of Bellevue, Kyle Waller of Bellevue and Chase Hall of Petrolia and Donovan Cook of Henrietta rounded out the top 10.

Henrietta’s varisty girls team finished second in the team standings with 65 points. Boyd won the title with 18 points, placing the top three runners.

Joyana Zamzow led the Lady Cats with a fourth place finish. Bellevue was the only other Clay County school to field a varsity girls team.

Henrietta’s JV girls, led by Krystal Cook, placed first in the team standings with 31 points.
