Henrietta Bears, Cubs plugging away in Top of Texas league



The Henrietta Bears and Cubs midget and peewee football teams are four weeks into the 2012 season and have each accumulated wins.

Playing in the Top of Texas League’s Midget Division (ages 10-11), the Bears opened the season Sept. 1 with a 14-8 win over Petrolia. The Bears fell to Burkburnett East, 36-8, on Sept. 8; Bowie East, 26-8, on Sept. 15; and on Saturday night, fell to City View, 34-12.

In the Peewee Division, the Cubs earned a 10- win over Petrolia Sept. 1, and an 8-6 win over Burkburnett East on Sept. 8. The Cubs fell to Bowie East 30-0 on Sept. 15, and on Friday fell to City View, 12-6.

Both teams host Bowie North on Sept. 29, followed by two off weeks. The season continues Oct. 20 when the Bears and Cubs host Iowa Park East, and Oct. 27 in Nocona. Peewee games begin at 6 p.m., followed by the Midget Division games at 8 p.m.

The 2012 Bears are Cole Gilmore, Keelan Carter, Desmond McNett, Brady Harwell, Garret Jackson, Brogan Thonton, Mark Gill, Jacob Saldana, Daniel Koetter, Blake Liggett, Mason Marchman, Kaleb Liggett, Travis Swensen, Holt Chambers, Corbin Cody, Joey Garcia, Landry Bennett, Wilson Moore, Clay Streeter, Brandon Taylor, Tate Sizemore, Brayden Scroggins, Evan Mitchell and Kaleb Voyles.

Bears coaches are Paul Bennett, Floyd Moore, Greg Koetter, Robert Chambers, Casey Roberts and James Gill.

The 2012 Cubs are Cooper Watson, Baron Brown, Charlie Scholl, Cole Sweeten, Jayden Davis, Bodie Vicars, Cooper Ellis, Braden Bell, Xavier Garcia, Connor McDonald, Kross Ellis, Carson Kirby, Kutter Freeland, Caleb Ashley, Blaine Frost, Carson Cody, Henley Liggett, Reece Essler, Creed Brown, Joshua Stewart, Quade West, Brandon Cook, Reece Hensley, Damien Kane and Trent Tice.

Cubs coaches are Brad Liggett, Kevin Scholl, Tim Tice and Kevin Brown.
