On Sept. 14, The Clay County Pioneer Sentinel marked its one-year anniversary.
In the past 12 months, Pioneer-Sentinel.com has posted some 1,500 news stories, gained more than 75,000 hits since “going live” and a monthly readership averaging 4,000 unique visitors. The average number of hits per month has grown to 10,000. In the month of August, the website had 12,081 hits.
The Pioneer Sentinel celebrated with two Facebook promotions.
The first promotion ran Sept. 11-12. Jessica Nelms of Byers won a $30 gift certificate to Waggoner’s Boot Center for being the Pioneer Sentinel’s 800th “Like.”
The second promotion benefitted the FFA Calf Scramble, held during each performance of the Pioneer Reunion Rodeo, and wrapped up early Monday afternoon. For each new “Like” on the Pioneer Sentinel Facebook page, $1 was donated to the calf scramble. An additional $100 was donated in the name of Barbara Stailey of Holliday, the 1,000th person to “Like” the Pioneer Sentinel on Facebook.
The promotion raised $300 for the FFA Calf Scramble.
