Bearcats can’t catch Jackrabbits, fall to 1-2

Henrietta took an early 3-0 lead over Bowie on the gridiron Friday night, but struggled against the Jackrabbits’ running game for a 21-10 defeat.

Bearcat Jameson Dowell put Henrietta on the scoreboard with a 38-yard field goal in the first quarter.

Bowie answered in the second with two touchdowns to close the half ahead 14-3. The Jackrabbits scored on a nine-yard run from Garland McCoy and a one-yard run from Richard Pellizzari.

Bowie grew the Henrietta deficit in the third quarter with a 13-yard touchdown pass from Jay Ward to Pellizzari, 21-3.

Henrietta scored its first touchdown of the night when Quarterback Conner Fletcher found C.D. Crumpton on the sideline. Fletcher connected with Crumpton to score from 24 yards out. Dowell kicked the extra point.

Henrietta finished with a mere 67 yards rushing on 27 attempts and 83 yards passing on eight of 15 attempts and one interception.

Bowie finished with 225 yards rushing on 53 carries and 98 yards passing. Bowie competed seven of 16 passes. The Bearcat defense came away with two interceptions.

With the loss, Henrietta falls to 1-2, while the Jackrabbits remain undefeated with three wins.

The game was Henrietta’s first at home this season. Friday, the Bearcats host Quanah.
