The Clay County Pioneer Association will host two special events for local cowboys during the Thursday, Friday and Saturday performances of the Pioneer Reunion Rodeo.
As many as five riders will compete each night in ranch bronc riding. The event pays three places. Ranch bronc differs from saddle bronc competition in that it is “ride as ride can.”
Double mugging also will be featured, and as many as five teams will compete in each performance. The double mugging also pays three places.
On Friday afternoon, local cowboys are invited to participate in a team doctoring competition. The event begins at 12:30 p.m. at Tex Rickard Arena, and is limited to 30 four-man teams. Entry fee is $80 per team, and will be taken at the arena before the event.
The event has a four-loop limit. Any rope on the ground counts as a spent loop. All four men must be mounted.
