Henrietta Elementary School celebrated the upcoming Pioneer Reunion and Rodeo on Wednesday with Pioneer Day.
Students took a hayride, roped dummy calves, designed their own brand, decorated bandanas, listened to live western music and cowboy poetry, and watched demonstrations on spur making, ear tagging and tattooing cattle for identification. Students traveled by bus to the Perry Lee arena in Henrietta, where Lee and others demonstrated team roping and were introduced to a buffalo. Students also watched a presentation about pioneer life.
HES Pioneer Day is held every year on the Wednesday preceding Pioneer Reunion.
Henrietta, Petrolia, Bellevue and Midway schools will be closed Friday for Pioneer Reunion.
