Henrietta volleyball competes in ‘Buckle Up’ tournament

Henrietta’s varsity Lady Cats finished the Buckle Up for Lane’s Sake volleyball tournament in Nocona with a 1-2 record in bracket play Saturday.

Annelise Sauer earned all-tournament honors for her play in the libero position.

Henrietta defeated Vernon in two sets, 25-16, 25-20. The Lady Cats lost to Decatur in three, 16-25, 25-22, 19-25, and to Gunter in two sets, 24-26, 21-25.

Joyana Zamzow led the team with 17 kills, five aces and seven digs, followed by Taylor Bennett with 13 kills, five aces, six digs. Sierra Burkhart scored 11 kills, while Addison Wade had10 kills and six digs. Anni Scholl scored nine kills and four aces and picked up 22 digs. Heather Hicks had seven kills.

Sauer had 52 digs, while Cassie Pickett picked up 12 digs

Setters Katie Halsell and Kailey Kirk had 29 assists each. Halsell finished with five digs and Kirk had nine.

During pool play, Henrietta defeated Archer City, 25-22, 25-20; Graham, 25-11, 25-13; and Gainesville, 25-22, 25-15. The Lady Cats fell to Callisburg, 19-25, 20-25.

Zamzow finished pool play with 29 kills, two aces and 14 digs, followed by Scholl with 18 kills, seven aces, 28 digs; Bennett with 14 kills and seven aces; Wade with eight kills; Burkhart with six kills; Sauer with 41 digs and four aces; Picket with 24 digs; Halsell with 32 set assists and 12 digs; and Kirk with 35 set assists and 13 digs.
