The motorcycle involved in a high-speed chase that ended in Henrietta is inspected by DPS Troopers in the 900 block of East Wichita Street Friday afternoon.

An attempt to pull over a motorcycle speeding down Hwy. 287 Friday afternoon ended up in one-vehicle accident and foot chase in Henrietta.

Just before 4 p.m. Friday, a DPS Trooper responded to reports of a motorcycle traveling at a high rate of speed south on Hwy. 287. When the trooper attempted to stop the vehicle, it fled.

The high-speed chase led to Henrietta, where the motorcycle turned into town and attempted to lose troopers and Clay County Deputies on side streets. The chase came to an end in northeast Henrietta.

Traveling south on Hook St., the rider attempted to turn east onto the 900 block of East Wichita Street, when he struck loose gravel and lost control of the bike. After wrecking the motorcycle, the rider, described by witnesses as a Hispanic male, ran from the scene.

Troopers chased him on foot through two fenced yards before catching the man in the 900 block of East Ikard St.

After the man was taken into custody, troopers searched a backpack and motorcycle jacket.

The identity of the rider, and charges he will face, have not been released.
