Thomas ‘Tom’ Wight, Sr. of Holliday


Thomas “Tom” Raymond Wight, Sr., 68, of Holliday, passed away on Saturday, Aug. 18, 2012.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 1, 2012, at the First Presbyterian Church of Wichita Falls, with Rev. Ike Butterworth, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the Rosemont Cemetery in Wichita Falls, under the direction of Davis Funeral Home of Henrietta.

Mr. Wight was born on July 24, 1944 in Dallas to George W. and Lillie Belle (Price) Wight. He was a pilot for General Telephone, Rio Airways, and Eastern Airlines. He also flew charters and air ambulance service. In the late 1970’s he purchased and operated a Shamrock Truck Stop. His experience as a businessman then led to him operating vending, car, and motorcycle businesses. Tom had a passion for seeing the United States. From 2005-2007, he worked for a company hauling RV trailers from Goshen, Ind., to many points in the United States.

Tom is survived by his wife, Edwina; four daughters, Dr. Amy Sikes and husband Brian of Lubbock, Brandi Wight of Plano, Molly Attebery and husband Ryan of Montgomery, and Andria Arnold-Jones of Mesquite; a son, Thomas R. Wight, Jr., of Dallas; and seven grandchildren.

A family visitation will be Friday, Aug. 31 at First Presbyterian Church of Wichita Falls from 7-8 p.m.
