The general public got a glimpse of what it takes to be a member of the Henrietta High School Black Gold Brigade with a special Parent Performance on Thursday night.
The Parent Performance was an open invitation to a Black Gold Brigade practice. As students were put through the paces, Band Director Kenneth Gilbreath described to those in attendance how the band learns each formation using a set of colored chips to mark their locations and by counting out the number of steps between each chip. Students must not only concentrate on the music, but on where to go.
Near the end of the presentation, parents and other family members were called onto the field by the students, and got first-hand feel for what it takes.
