Cross county rivalry: Lady Cats handle Petrolia in three games

In a cross-county matchup Tuesday night, Henrietta’s varsity Lady Cat volleyball team dominated Petrolia, earning a win over the Lady Pirates in three games.

Henrietta defeated Petrolia 25-17, 25-15, 25-16.

Joyana Zamzow led the Lady Cat attack with 12 kills. Zamzow and Taylor Bennett were a force from the service line with five aces each. Anni Scholl finished with nine kills, while Addison Wade, Sierra Burkhart and Bennett had nine kills each. Setter Katie Halsell posted 19 assists.

At libero, Annelise Sauer led the Lady Cat defense with 15 digs. Cassie Pickett picked up nine digs, followed by Bennett with seven and Zamzow with six digs.

The match was Henrietta’s first at home this season. The Lady Cats opened the season Friday at the Burkburnett Cool in Boomtown tournament.

Henrietta defeated Burkburnett in the Gold Bracket quarterfinal Saturday, 25-17, 25-20, but fell to tournament champion Holliday in the semifinal, 25-22, 25-23. In the match for third place, Henrietta fell to Christ Academy, 25-18, 25-23.

In Friday’s pool play, Henrietta defeated City View, 16-14, 15-8, and Hirschi, 15-11, 15-9. The Lady Cats split games with Whitesboro, 15-8, 15-17.

Junior Varsity

Henrietta’s A-team JV squad defeated Petrolia 21-25, 25-16, 27-25. The B-team Lady Cats fell to Petrolia 21-25, 25-17, 17-25.
