High school athletes across the state kicked off summer workouts last week, and in Henrietta and Petrolia it was no different.
Coaches at both schools took advantage of cooler early morning temperatures to put students through the paces, preparing them for the upcoming football, volleyball and cross country seasons.
Summer workouts began Monday, Aug. 6. Friday marked the first day football teams could practice in full pads.
Volleyball teams had scrimmages scheduled for the weekend, and the county’s two football teams take the field in practice games on Saturday. Henrietta will host Seymour Aug. 18, while Petrolia travels to Jacksboro for a 9:30 a.m. meeting. On Thursday, Aug. 23, Henrietta faces Hirschi at Memorial Stadium in Wichita Falls, and Petrolia travels to Muenster Sacred Heart.
Petrolia opens ints volleyball season today at 3 p.m. against City View. Henrietta’s and Petrolia’s varsity volleyball teams competes in the Burkburnett tournament Aug. 17-18.
The Henreitta All-Sports Club will host Meet the Cats Friday night at 7 p.m. at Bearcat Stadium.
