Oleta Carpenter of Bowie


Oleta Gulley Carpenter, 96, of Bowie, formerly of Wichita Falls, passed away on Thursday, Aug. 9, 2012 in Bowie.

Funeral services will be at 3 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 11, at the White Family Funeral Home Chapel in Bowie, with Mr. Michael Rhoades officiating. Burial will be in the Riverside Cemetery in Byers, under the direction of Davis Funeral Home of Henrietta.

Mrs. Carlenter was born Sept. 6, 1915, in Byers to Otis and Berta (Adams) Gulley. She was the oldest of nine children, including Olan, O. Dee, Billie Jean, Oral, Beverly, Buddy, Teddy Frank and John Gulley. She married Vincent Carpenter and was a devoted wife and mother. She retired from White’s in Wichita Falls where she worked in the microfilm department. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Wichita Falls.

Survivors include three siblings, Beverly Swiss, Buddy Gulley, and Johnny Gulley and wife Faye; three daughters, Nancy Begley and husband Glen Ray of Bowie, Barbara Carpenter of Dallas, and Marilyn Ward and husband Jim of Iowa Park; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and eight great-great grandchildren.

Memorials can be made to the charity of your choice.
