Bellevue, Henrietta VFD’s respond to truck fire on Hwy. 287

Fire fighters from Bellevue and Henrietta were called to a vehicle fire on Hwy. 287 Saturday afternoon, arriving to find a tractor-trailer on fire.

Bellevue and Henrietta volunteer fire fighters were dispatched to a vehicle fire on Hwy. 287 near Lone Star Road Saturday.

At about 5 p.m., the tractor-trailer fire was reported in the northbound lanes. The truck and trailer were registered to a Canadian trucking company. The trailer was loaded with oil field equipment.

Fire fighters arrived to find the trailer engulfed in flames. The truck driver was able to disconnect the trailer and pull away from it. The fire appears to have started at a rear wheel and may have been caused when a break overheated.

Bellevue sent three trucks and Henrietta sent two to the fire.

The blaze and a small grass fire was quickly contained.
