Gail Schenk of Scotland


Gail Schenk, 63, of Scotland, Texas, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2012, in Hospice of Wichita Falls.

A vigil service and rosary was held at 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 9 at Saint Boniface Catholic Church. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 10,2012, with Rev. Jack McKone of Sacred Heart Catholic Church officiating. Burial will follow in Saint Boniface Cemetery in Scotland under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home of Archer City.

Mrs. Schenk was born June 11, 1949 in Amarillo to J.M. and June (Barrett) Duncan. She graduated from Tascosa High School in Amarillo. She and Leonard Schenk, Jr., were married May 8, 1971 in Scotland. She was employed as the school secretary for the Wichita Falls ISD, Petrolia ISD, Jacksboro ISD and Windthorst ISD for a combination of more than 30 years until her retirement in 2001. After her retirement she worked for Berend Brothers and also Archer Title Company. She was an avid supporter of the Cancer Society and Hospice of Wichita Falls.

Survivors include her husband, Leonard Schenk, Jr. of Scotland; two daughters, Stacie Watson and husband Ricky of Wichita Falls, and Shelbie Schenk and husband Greg Belz of Wichita Falls; her mother, June Duncan of Bowie; four sisters, Rhonda Ford and husband Bobby of Bowie, Jamie Baack and husband Mike of Lubbock, Micah Thomas of Brownwood; and Sharla Gallion of Lubbock; and four grandsons.

She is preceded in death by her father, and one son, Monte Schenk on April 17, 1994.
