Lloyd M. Seigler of Wichita Falls


Lloyd M. Seigler, 89, of Wichita Falls, formerly of Joy, passed away on Friday, July 27, 2012, in Wichita Falls, Texas.

Funeral services will be at 9 a.m. Tuesday, July 31, at the Joy Baptist Church. Burial will be in the Joy Cemetery under the direction of Davis Funeral Home of Henrietta.

Mr. Seigler was born on Sept. 25, 1922 in Joy to Albert and Callie (Faulkner) Seigler. He left school during his ninth grade year to help support his family. He had participated in a cattle drive of around 800 head of livestock during his teen years for the King Ranch. He married Mildred “Bessie” Fookes on Dec. 5, 1942 in Henrietta. Lloyd worked as a ranch hand, oil field worker, butcher and a baker before settling into being a rancher with his wife. He was a past member of several boards including Midway ISD Board of Trustees, several terms on the Nine-Man Board and was president of the Clay County Pioneer Association in 1993. He actively attended Joy Baptist Church and Victory Baptist Church in Wichita Falls. He enjoyed hunting, card games with friends, dominoes and horse racing.

Survivors include his wife, Mildred “Bessie” Seigler of Wichita Falls; a son, Ernest Lee Seigler and wife June of Joy; a daughter, Callie Charlotte Seigler of Wichita Falls; 10 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Monday, July 30 at Davis Funeral Home.
