Summer reading program ends with certificate party

The Edwards Public Library celebrated the end of 2012 Texas Summer Reading Club “Get a Clue…at the Library!” with a certificate party at the Holman Center on Wednesday, July 11.  Twenty-nine reading program participants attended the celebration.

Clay County Commissioner John McGregor and Henrietta City Manager Kelley Bloodworth presented the Texas Reading Club Certificates. Of the 186 readers that signed up for the Texas Reading Club, 154 read at least one hour and received an ice cream cone coupon from Henrietta Dairy Queen, a book bag from the Edwards Public Library, a temporary tattoo, a pencil and a bottle of bubbles.

For reading at least three hours, there were 127 who received reading club certificates and a book, plus all that the one hour readers received. There were 72 readers who read over six hours and also received a small Sonic Slush Coupon. There were also 47 readers who read over ten hours and received a prize from the prize box.  This year’s secret reading number was 11; there were 26 readers who read over 11 hours and received a “Find it at your Library” lanyard.  A total of 1,116 hours, 15 minutes were read by readers during our 2012 Texas Summer Reading Club.  This year’s readers were encouraged to read as much as they wanted, without any competition.  Everyone who attended the certificate party received bottle of bubbles and a pencil.

Those who read at least one were Tayson Brown, Luke Bullinger, Brandt Ellsworth, Kylee Erickson, Reece Essler, Trey Essler, Lawson Fleming, Maisy Fleming, Blaine Frost, Caden Frost, Joseph Garcia, Lilianna Garcia, X-Man Garcia, Ramsey Hensley, Reece Hensley, Holice Holbert, Ben Kelton, Eli Klyn, Gabriella Matthews, Brooklyn McMurry, Fletcher Moore, Wyatt Schindler, Kylee Seward, Jordyn Taylor, Costyn Turner and Jocelyn Turner.

Zinni, Leah Zinni and Tara Zinni.

Those who read ten hours received a prize from the prize box were Tanner Arias, Landry Bennett, Anthony Chavez, John “J” Davis, Max Dowd, Kat Hand, Rexa Hand, Ellie Jones, Emma Jones, Kelsee Mayfield, Jayson Nixon, Kenzie Nixon, Natalie Faith Romines, Thomas “Ross” Romines, Carry Ross, Christopher Ross, JT Sanders, Tori Sanders, Cole Scribner and Leah Scribner.

These readers read over eleven hours (which was the secret number) also received “Find it at the Library!” lanyard: Lyndsie Avenius, Danielle Bradley, Aleigh Brock, Morgan Bujak, Timothy Bujak, Leah Bullinger, Camrin Byers, Blake Craddock, Jordon Davis, Madison Deason, Tatum Deason, April Lynn Elliott, Maggie Fleming, Isabella Garcia, Sarah Klyn, Mason Knight, Dayton Leach, Holton R. Leach, Griffin Little, Preston Mayfield, Chance Mills, Matthew Mills, Maverick Moore, Ellen Parkey, Kaylee Ramos, Ireland Rodgers, Isabella Rodgers and Leah Scribner.

At the end of the celebration, coloring pages were handed out to those who attended the party.

All the readers who participated in the reading club and did not attend the party can pick up certificates at the library.
