Weldon Glynn Elrod of Bellevue


Weldon Glynn Elrod, 63, of Bellevue, passed away Monday, July 9, 2012, in Decatur.

Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, July 14 at the First Baptist Church of Vashti with James Ware officiating. Burial will follow in the Sunset Cemetery under the direction of the White Family Funeral Home of Bowie.

Mr. Elrod was born June 8, 1949 in Bowie to Emitt and Zona (Marshall) Elrod. He graduated from Bowie High School in 1960. He worked for General Dynamics and for Greer Tank Truck Company. He was a tool pusher in the oil field for 14 years, and worked at Wal-Mart for 15 years as the lawn and garden manager until his retirement. He was a member and deacon of the First Baptist Church of Vashti. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening. He loved his Lord, family, and friends.

Glynn is survived by his wife, Connie Elrod of Bellevue; six children, Stephen Hunt of Bellevue, Jon Robinson and wife Cathy of Wichita Falls, Joel Robinson and wife Susan of McKinney, Daryl Burton and wife Julie of Benton, La., Jennifer Gardener of Bowie, and Jamie Sharp of Mineral Wells; a sister, Gayl Belcher and husband Larry of Bellevue; seven grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.

The family will be at White Family Funeral Home from 6-8 p.m. Friday, July 13.
